Insurance companies pay captive and independent brokers (us) a fee that is set and worked into the cost of a plan. This is an industry standard. It does not change the price of any policy to buy directly from the company versus through an independent broker.

Despite what other agents may tell you, rates in the insurance agency are standardized by plan. No insurance company can adjust the rates to accomodate an insurance agent. As an example, Plan X will charge exactly the same if you purchase it from the Provider directly or from an agent. It will cost exactly the same from Agent A or Agent B.
