Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage is a health insurance plan from a private company that works with Medicare set rules and bundles Part A and Part B coverage. Medicare Advantage includes programs in the plan not covered by Medicare such as dental, vision and fitness programs. The fee structure is different and the rules are different than Medicare. Most Medicare Advantage plans include prescription coverage. In the rare event they don't, you can purchase a Medicare drug plan. You should be aware that if you purchase a Medicare drug plan and your Medicare Advantage plan does include prescription coverage (HMO or PPO Advantage plans), you will be disenrolled from your Medicare Advantage plan are returned to original Medicare.

It doesn't. You cannot be enrolled in both plans. They are separate plans.

One of the benefits about choosing Medicare Advantage is that some Advantage plans do offer dental coverage. Please note: some do not. You will need to check the details of each individual plan. Some of benefits you may discover include:

• Fillings
• Root canal treatment
• Periodontic treatments
• Extractions
• Crowns, bridges, implants, and dentures

These benefits will likely come with copayments or coinsurance that you will have to cover yourself. 

You may have heard that one of the perks about many Medicare Advantage plans is that they include membership to fitness programs. The popular Silver Sneakers fitness program is included in a variety of Advantage plans, but not all. There are other comparable fitness programs covered by others. Not all Advantage plans cover a fitness program, but most do. You can also find fitness programs with some Supplement plans as well. Please check on the details of each individual plan to know.
